Summary

Where the Wild Things Are is the story of Max, a little, trouble-making boy who was sent to bed without his dinner. As he paced his room, a jungle began to grow within his walls until he was standing under the moon light. There was a boat that had his name on it and he used it to set out on a year long voyage. He sailed to where the wild things are. There, he became the kings of the wild things for he was the scariest or them all. He stayed there until he longed for those who loved him. He sailed back to his bedroom where his dinner was still warm and waiting for him.

The Original Purpose

This blog actually originated as a class assignment. The first "younger reading" class I took had each student create a different note card for every book they read. The note card was to have all of the information on the book as well as a brief summary and our reaction to what we read. With my children's literature class being the second class that required a similar assignment, I decided that a blog was more practical than trying to find some place to store several hundred 3x5 notecards. Thus the birth of "The Book Shelf." I hope you enjoy my insights.
